Because they are removable, aligners are much more flexible than braces, which are affixed to your teeth permanently until removed. Although they should be worn except when eating or brushing (approximately 22 hours a day), they can be removed for an important meeting, interview, photo shoot, or other key moments.
Because they are removed during eating, you can eat and drink what you want! There are no food limitations with aligners. Contrasted with braces, you are advised not to eat anything that can easily break a bracket such as popcorn, chips, hard or chewy candies — or biting into hard surfaces such as an apple or carrot stick. And sugary, carbonated sodas are discouraged or off limits for patients wearing braces.
